A set of default replacements for the standard Maxis easel paintings, suitable for a Medieval setting, or wherever you decide to use them. They REPLACE the normal easel paintings. Simply put them in your download folder like any other custom content. To return to the regular Maxis paintings, just delete these files. You can only have ONE set of default replacements in your game at a time.

These paintings are derived from illuminations from the famous Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry, a “Book of Hours”, or daily devotional, created in the 15th Century by the Limbourg brothers and others. The 12 paintings represent each of the months of the year, and include a zodiac calendar at the top.

If you prefer not to replace the defaults, I have also included a non-default set, for those with Pets or later, to use as Custom Paintings. Just unzip and place in your “Paintings” folder (My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Paintings)

Created with saramkirk’s wonderful Default Replacements for Easel Paintings template at Mod the Sims 2.

I’m going to be including some downloads on the site that I think may be of interest to some people. Mostly they will be medieval in focus, but suitable to other purposes as well.

After hearing horror stories about her mother’s first pregnancy, Beverly was relieved to find it relatively easy. She still had morning sickness, and ate like a horse, but she had plenty of energy to go visiting friends or spend a night out on the town. Things seemed to be sailing along smoothly.

Tom Weatherly was the youngest child in a large, lower-class family that lived in a small apartment in one of the housing complexes of South SimCity. His parents couldn’t even afford to send him to college, despite his thirst for Knowledge. Tom might have been doomed to live out his life pumping gas, but fate stepped in. The family’s nearly-forgotten Great-Uncle Albert had finally gotten around to actually dying, and to Tom’s great surprise, the old curmudgeon had actually left him an inheritance of § 20,000!

The magic was gone, or at least fading. Brad knew that high-school couples rarely tend to last in college, but he’d hoped that this time would be different. He could tell, though, that the two of them were starting to drift apart.

With Lakeside Manor filling rather rapidly, and more little Petras kids on the way, Belle decided to move on to college, herself. She found herself assigned to her sister Barbara’s dorm, and she was relieved to see a familiar face amongst the strange newness that was college.

Back at Greenhaven U., Brighid had graduated with a degree in Art. She moved back to the family homestead just long enough to drop off Bethany’s childhood bed, which she had unthinkingly brought with her to college. Unfortunately, this did nothing to appease Beth’s angry ghost.

Alright, remember when I said I wasn’t going to blog entries on the younger Petras kids? I lied. There were a few storylines I wanted to keep track of, and some new ones have developed since. I’ll try not to bore everyone with every detail though. If you see one of the kids at college, or back in the neighborhood, and so on, you can assume they made the transition and I didn’t feel the need to elaborate. The first GHU blog is a bit of an expansion on the other quick update, so slightly redundant, but things should improve from there. (Admit it, you wanted to know what happened with Brad and Ricky, I know you did!)

Also, I’m starting a second legacy family - this one an extreme legacy start. I’m hoping it will spark an on-going plotline as the two families interact, but I may just get bored and scrap that part after a generation or two. emoticon Still working on how I’m going to tie the two menus together without getting massively confused. I’ll live.

Notes from GHU

A New Legacy

Also, a word of warning. I may have mentioned that I’d started to alter the eye color genetics for my neighborhood sims. Don’t try it. I’ve been having massive trouble with pregnancies as a result. I’m not sure if it’s the townie, or the Petras kid (I gave them a different recessive to match their mom’s new shade, and I’ve had to change all of them back) but it’s definitely annoying, to say the least. I may attempt it again just to see if it was only the switch in my Petras family genetics that caused it, but for now, don’t do it!

I’ll shut up and blog now,

Beverly completed her senior year, and graduated with high honors. She was the first Petras ever to graduate from college, and her parents couldn’t be prouder.

In the interest of actually keeping this blog somewhat up to date, I’ve decided to focus on the story of my heir, and ignore the other various plotlines unless something really interesting happens. I’ll occasionally throw in quick update entries like this one to catch people up with the rest of the Petras clan, but from now on we’ll follow the story of Beverly’s life. And so…
