The twins had always been close as children, despite the differences in their personalities. But as they grew into teens, Bethany began to feel extremely insecure about herself and her abilities, compared to her younger sister.
In other circumstances, Beth might have seemed the ideal child. Neat, polite, and quiet, she did well in school, made steady – if a bit slow – progress in her skills, and was headed for the top in her chosen career of medicine. A fortune sim, she felt that this was the path best guaranteed to earn her the coveted $100k in simoleons that was her ultimate goal. But a successful doctor needs a good skill set, and compared to Beverly’s progress, Bethany seemed to learn rather slowly.
In fact, poor Beth seemed to pale in any category when compared to her twin. Beverly was the golden child, at least to Bethany’s way of looking at it. The young romance sim was energetic, charismatic, intelligent, popular – everything that Bethany felt she was not. A star athlete as well as a star student, Bev was well liked wherever she went and seemed destined to succeed in sports, or any other path she might embark on.
Beth even felt the strain of competing in appearance. Beverly was blessed with an athlete’s body, and loved to work out on her dad’s obstacle course. Bethany, on the other hand, hated to exercise, and began to depend on a series of crash diets to stay as slim as her popular twin.
Their parents did their best to show an equal amount of love and affection towards both girls, but between demanding careers and a household of children, all clamoring for attention, Aaron and Mary were often spread a bit thin. It wasn’t unusual to find the older siblings filling in for their stressed-out parents at times.
Bethany put a good face on things, so her parents had no idea that there was more than just a healthy rivalry between the girls. In fact, Bev herself had no idea how her twin felt. She was happy and confident, and assumed Beth felt the same. But Bethany felt pushed to excel. No matter how high she set the bar for herself, she was never satisfied, because it was always something Beverly had done first. She became an energizer addict, depending on the device to give her the time she needed to keep pace with her younger sister.
It was a disaster waiting to happen, and finally it did. Bethany slipped down to the basement for a quick pick-me-up after managing to just barely edge her aspiration meter into the gold zone. She was so intent on her goal that she didn’t notice it dropping back to green on the way. By the time she realized her danger, it was too late.
With her energies depleted by the back-firing machine, there was nothing she could do but collapse to the floor in exhaustion. Bethany hadn’t told anyone that she was headed for the basement, and she was already hungry from her latest crash-diet before the accident. No one knows how long she was lying down there on the floor before the end came.
The family grieved tremendously when her body was discovered, and guilt ran rampant before time eased the pain. But Bethany was gone, and nothing would bring her back, as far as anyone knew.

OooOOH NO!!! Not the twins! Anything but that! Why do parents and relatives always “assume” things. Don’t they know the old saying about “assuming” things? It just makes and “ASS” out of “U” and “ME”. ;O)) Poor girl. I’m wondering by your last cryptic statement though. You said, “But Bethany was gone, and nothing would bring her back, as far as anyone knew.” Does that mean someone’s going to try to ressurect her? Great update!
