Tom Weatherly was the youngest child in a large, lower-class family that lived in a small apartment in one of the housing complexes of South SimCity. His parents couldn’t even afford to send him to college, despite his thirst for Knowledge. Tom might have been doomed to live out his life pumping gas, but fate stepped in. The family’s nearly-forgotten Great-Uncle Albert had finally gotten around to actually dying, and to Tom’s great surprise, the old curmudgeon had actually left him an inheritance of § 20,000!
Tom couldn’t believe his luck. A chance to finally realize his dreams! He headed for the tranquil town of Greenhaven faster than you could say “Great-Uncle Albert”. He purchased the largest plot of land that he could find. It didn’t leave him much cash for anything else, but he didn’t care.
For Tom did have a dream. Ever since he was a child, he’d dreamed of owning a giant manor house. Not some modern, boxy-looking thing, like the so-called “Lakeside Manor”, but a real old-fashioned mansion, with all the bells and whistles.
He even had the blueprints. He spent hours surveying his new property, Elmcroft, planning what would go where. He would build his dream mansion, bit by tiny bit, from the basement up. Tom could care less what the neighbors might think.
He enlisted in the military, simply because they had the best starting salary around, even though he felt his true path lay somewhere else. His “free” time was often spent downtown, working as a bartender.
It was there, on his way in to work one day, that he saw her. Barbara Petras. What a beauty! She introduced herself, and they began to talk.
It turned out that she had come from a large family as well, and could sympathize with the difficulties that resulted. They didn’t have much time to get to know each other, but Tom found his thoughts frequently turning towards the young co-ed. Could he have found the future Mrs. Weatherly, so quickly?

Custom content: No, you can’t really see it, but it’s there. I created Tom by making his parents and grandparents first. (I think only the parents’ genetics will come through, though) So Tom’s eye color is from The Well Dressed Sim. I’ve lost my notes that had which shades were involved. (Yes, I’m a bit obsessive-compulsive about this sort of stuff).
