The magic was gone, or at least fading. Brad knew that high-school couples rarely tend to last in college, but he’d hoped that this time would be different. He could tell, though, that the two of them were starting to drift apart.
Maybe it was the result of differing interests, each of them dealing with college in their own way. Or perhaps the inconvenience of their class schedules was at fault. It left them little time to do more than share breakfast in the morning, and curl up together at night.

But Brad could sense that things were changing between him and Ricky, and he wondered what he could do to revitalize their relationship. Romance, after all, wasn’t something he could just learn from a book.
Unbeknownst to Brad, the relationship was doing more than just slowly drifting apart. The real reason behind the change was one Blake LeTourneau. Ricky’s wonderful illicit date with him had turned into a genuine love affair.
They made great use of the staggered class schedules, meeting at the dorm whenever Brad was in school. Some days, they shaved the timing a bit too close, with Blake leaving just as Brad was getting home.
In a dorm as small as Jefferson, though, nothing remains secret for long. Especially since Ricky was taking no pains to hide the affair from his dorm-mates, even bragging to them at times!
One night, Brad’s close friend Emmy pulled him aside and told him the awful truth. Immediately, Brad flew outside to confront Ricky, hoping to find that it wasn’t true.
Many hurtful words were spoken that night, and before Brad could truly grasp the reality of what had happened, they found themselves sleeping in separate rooms for the first time.
Dividing up their belongings was another painful experience for Brad. The former couple seemed to bicker about everything. Which dorm furniture had been where? Should the doorway be closed for good, or should they still allow each other access to the dresser and desk? And which of them really owned that Brokeback Mountain poster?

Finally the ordeal was over, and so were they. Now came the hard part – dealing with the pain and the loneliness. Brad had never felt so betrayed in his life. He tried filling the empty hours with working on his skills and focusing on his classwork, but scholastic endeavors seemed to have lost their shine in the aftermath of the breakup.
Brad began to seek out the rest of his family, both on and off campus. The Petras family ties had become fairly thin all around, it must be admitted. He decided to start changing that, spending time each day working on strengthening their relationships. But it was not enough.
He hated to admit it, but what was once a cozy refuge from the bustle of the main campus was becoming a confining torment. Having Ricky still sharing the same small dorm with him was like a daily knife to his heart that he could not avoid. He began to realize that Jefferson Dorm was no longer the home to him that it had always been. But what could he do?
Now, as much as he loved visits from his family, he was a little less than pleased when his baby sister turned up early one morning – after coming straight from one of Barb’s all-night extravaganzas, which were already becoming legendary on campus. Belle was far too young to be out all night partying!
As they shared breakfast, Belle raved about the event, telling her brother that she couldn’t wait for her freshman year to be over so she could finally pledge and be a Cham too!
For the first time since his older brother had talked him into at least pledging to the house, Brad began seriously considering moving in to the Greek House. He’d be closer to his family, much farther from Ricky, and there must be some place in that building where he could avoid most of the noise and mayhem.
He had heard that Ben’s fiancĂ©e, Nicole, was not terribly thrilled with the new developments at the House, either. Perhaps the two of them could band together to be a stabilizing force in the household. He started to feel that it was almost his duty to go and save his siblings from themselves. Without delay, he packed his things and left Jefferson Dorm behind forever, ready for a fresh start.

Custom Content: Because I know you’re all wondering (okay, some of you are), I got that great Brokeback Mountain poster, by Crmelsimlover, at MTS2. You can find it here, and Qortex’s mesh for it here. I believe it’s the ‘bigposters’ download, I’ll check.
I may have mentioned it before, but Brad’s bedroom furniture is from SunAir Sims, it’s part of the Sectional Bedroom sets on ‘Objects’ pages 22 & 23 (Good luck. Love the site, takes me forever to get anywhere. Maybe it’s just my computer.) It will continue to move with him and expand to the full set as he gets more room in the future.
Oh, and another small note: the ‘rules’ at GHU say that you can’t pledge or move into a Greek house until after your freshman year. This is actually a ploy to get my sims to make friends with their dormmates before they head for Oresha Cham.
