After hearing horror stories about her mother’s first pregnancy, Beverly was relieved to find it relatively easy. She still had morning sickness, and ate like a horse, but she had plenty of energy to go visiting friends or spend a night out on the town. Things seemed to be sailing along smoothly.

In the interest of actually keeping this blog somewhat up to date, I’ve decided to focus on the story of my heir, and ignore the other various plotlines unless something really interesting happens. I’ll occasionally throw in quick update entries like this one to catch people up with the rest of the Petras clan, but from now on we’ll follow the story of Beverly’s life. And so…

After nearly being killed during his attempt to fix the family computer, Brad decided he deserved a trip downtown. A studious and quiet boy, Brad wasn’t usually the type to spend a lot of time out of the house, shopping or socializing, but he felt he could use a change of surroundings.

Life at the homestead continued at its normal pace. Brad joined his brother Benjamin as a teenager. He loved learning, and wanted to develop all his skills as far as he could. He spent a lot of time helping Aaron and Mary around the house, fixing things or taking care of his younger siblings, like newest baby Belle.

Back at Lakeside Manor, the Petras family continued to grow. Benjamin grew up into a handsome teen with a thirst for popularity and an interest in politics, while baby of the bunch Barbara turned into an adorable toddler. She didn’t stay the baby for long, though. Beatrice arrived soon afterwards, the eighth child in the family.

So young Bethany Petras became the first one whose urn rested in the family crypt. The family was deeply saddened by her tragic death by starvation, but life went on, and each family member dealt with it in their own way.

The twins had always been close as children, despite the differences in their personalities. But as they grew into teens, Bethany began to feel extremely insecure about herself and her abilities, compared to her younger sister.

Before her second pregnancy began, Mary decided it was time to change careers. Seeing the results of violence and accidents every day as an EMT saddened her, and she wanted to devote her time to preventing such injuries, rather than treating them. Listening to Aaron’s tales of the police force every night at dinner convinced her that this was the path for her. Before you could say "jelly doughnut", Mary was a member of Greenhaven’s finest.

At just about the same time, Aaron decided the police force didn’t hold enough challenge for him, and joined the military instead. He rose as quickly through the army’s ranks as he did as a policeman, but his real love was being at home with his growing family.

Mary soon found that pregnancy was every bit as trying and uncomfortable as her mother always said it was. She seemed to always be hungry and could never get enough rest. After falling asleep in her dinner once too often, she was thankful to take maternity leave and spend her time resting.
