Alright, remember when I said I wasn’t going to blog entries on the younger Petras kids? I lied. There were a few storylines I wanted to keep track of, and some new ones have developed since. I’ll try not to bore everyone with every detail though. If you see one of the kids at college, or back in the neighborhood, and so on, you can assume they made the transition and I didn’t feel the need to elaborate. The first GHU blog is a bit of an expansion on the other quick update, so slightly redundant, but things should improve from there. (Admit it, you wanted to know what happened with Brad and Ricky, I know you did!)

Also, I’m starting a second legacy family - this one an extreme legacy start. I’m hoping it will spark an on-going plotline as the two families interact, but I may just get bored and scrap that part after a generation or two. emoticon Still working on how I’m going to tie the two menus together without getting massively confused. I’ll live.

Notes from GHU

A New Legacy

Also, a word of warning. I may have mentioned that I’d started to alter the eye color genetics for my neighborhood sims. Don’t try it. I’ve been having massive trouble with pregnancies as a result. I’m not sure if it’s the townie, or the Petras kid (I gave them a different recessive to match their mom’s new shade, and I’ve had to change all of them back) but it’s definitely annoying, to say the least. I may attempt it again just to see if it was only the switch in my Petras family genetics that caused it, but for now, don’t do it!

I’ll shut up and blog now,

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve updated here, partly due to my usual "blogger’s block" and a lack of foresight when taking photos. Even now, when I know I’m going to be blogging the story, I forget to take good photos. The headmaster came to dinner yesterday, and I didn’t take a single shot! emoticon Big thanks to Jenn the Simmer Girl and her tips for getting your sims into private school, btw.

My other hold-up is one of my occasional "tidy up my custom content" projects. Lately I’ve been working on updating the genetics and such - making sure hair colors go into the right bins (tedious process, since I’m afraid of DatGen and have to do it the slow way with SimPE, lol), having skin and eye colors set up so they are inherited like normal instead of having the custom content always be dominant.

In the interest of full disclosure for my legacy challenge, I should mention that I’ve altered some of my game files in keeping with this. (more…)

If you’re like me, you might be having trouble keeping track of who’s who in the Petras clan. I’ve just updated my Petras Family Tree site with details on personality, aspirations, wants, etc. along with current (to where game play is, not storyline) photos of each member. Clicking on the photo by each name will bring you to the full description for each character. Mild spoilers, if you actually worry about that sort of thing, but I’m working on getting the storyline here up-to-date with my actual game progress.

Okay, because I’ve been babbling about it on the group, and because some of you have asked (okay, one of you, but still….) I’m going to take a moment out of the story and show the newly renovated Lakeside Manor, home of the Petras family, even though our storyline is nowhere near that point yet, lol.

Well, I’ve had an unexpected delay, had to re-format the hard-drive of my computer, so it’ll be a while before I’ve got everything back anywhere close to normal. So it may be a few days before I can continue the story. Oh well. :P

Well, I’ve caved to popular practice and my own overwhelming desire to babble about my sim families, and I’m starting a blog. Of course, I’m still figuring out how to use this thing, so at the moment there’s really nothing here emoticon.

In the future, this will be a chronicle of my current Legacy Challenge family, the Petras family, and quite possibly the stories of my 2 main neighborhoods, Pinebridge Meadows and Maplebrook Falls, depending on how bored I get ;)

I’ll try to remember to mention where I got custom stuff, when it shows in the pics, as I’m a big believer of giving credit where credit is due, and I know how frustrating it is to see something cool and not knowing where to download it.
